Terumi Kurata Regnier

August 4, 1941 - February 20, 2023

Terumi (Terry) Kurata Regnier, 81, passed away on February 20, 2023. She was a doting wife, mother, grandmother and pet parent for many years; dedicating her life to caring for those in her closest orbit. She grew up in Japan, working with her family through the post-war enduring many hardships. She met her future husband at a military base in Kamiseya, Japan where she worked as a nursing assistant, and immigrated to the United States in 1974 becoming a proud US citizen. She moved from Key West, to Virginia Beach and finally settled to raise a family in Henrico, Virginia. During that time she worked as a Japanese translator ad-hoc and focused primarily on being a wife and mother.  Terumi was a life-long animal lover, starting with smuggling a calico cat named Mikachan into her new country in the 70's followed by a series of dogs; Cochise, Tonka, Misty and finally Yoda the cat . She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and beloved husband Bob. She is survived by her son Raymond Regnier (Katlyn) and her two granddaughters (Ivy and Lyra). Terumi will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband at a future date.
