Obituary of Alexandre Y. Rebeiz

ALEXANDRE Y. REBEIZ (“Alex” to his wife, “Papa” to his 3 children and “Papi” to his 6 grandchildren), age 83, of Herndon, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

Alex was, and always will be, greatly loved and cherished by his family. He leaves behind his adoring wife, Kathryn Rebeiz, their three children, Alex Rebeiz, Jr. (wife Carly Rebeiz), Dan Rebeiz (wife Susan Rebeiz) and Tina Anderson (husband Rusty Anderson), and his 6 grandchildren, Matt Rebeiz (23), Taylor Anderson (18), Chloe Rebeiz (17), Abby Anderson (15), Sydney Rebeiz (15) and Jordan Rebeiz (12).

Alex will be remembered for his big personality that went right along with roaring laughter when his two sons would act up and joke around, by his tender kisses always lovingly placed on the foreheads of his grandchildren, by his big bear hugs, and great sense of humor. He loved watching football and boxing, especially surrounded by his family. He loved romantic Hallmark movies, reading the famous French Asterix comedic book series, and his favorite cartoon was Looney Tunes, Foghorn Leghorn, which always made him laugh! He loved the mountains and nature, bird watching, and relaxing in his Big Papa chair.

Alex was born on October 30, 1937, in the French region of Senegal, Africa, where he lived with his family (his parents and three sisters, Yvette, Danielle and Jacqueline) until the age of 17. He and his family then moved to Lebanon where they continued their schooling and worked alongside their father in family-owned stores throughout the cities of Lebanon. Alex and his sisters, and many cousins and friends, enjoyed the beautiful beaches and the snow-capped mountains of the country of Lebanon.

Alex met his beautiful wife, Kathryn, in Lebanon. Kathryn is the daughter of a World War II veteran who was stationed in Lebanon back in the 1960s. Kathryn and her mother loved it there so much that they decided to call Lebanon their home. When it came time for Kathryn to go to off to study art at the world-famous Beaux-Arts School, one of a number of influential art schools in France, she needed a French tutor. Little did she know that her French tutor would end up being the love of her life and they would be married for over 50 years. …and the best-known secret of all that, was that Alex was not really a certified French tutor. He just spoke fluent French… and the rest is history.

We love you very much Papi! Rest in Peace.
