Obituary of Steven Raymer
Steven Glenn Raymer, age 61, passed away on June 16, 2018, at his home in Centreville, Virginia. He was born on October 6, 1956, in Erie, Pennsylvania, and he spent most of his life in Wisconsin. He was the son of Glenn Raymer and Joann Willoughby.
Steve was a 1974 graduate of Monona Grove High School in Wisconsin. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1981. He met his wife Nancy while stationed in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Steve began working for the U.S. Postal Service in 1982. He was elected as the first full-time president of the Madison, Wisconsin Area APWU local union in 1990, serving in that position until 2001, when he was elected to be the National Maintenance Division Director for the entire American Postal Workers Union.
He enjoyed traveling, cooking, technology, and was a passionate Green Bay Packers fan. He was a dedicated unionist, a devoted family man, and was respected by everyone who knew him.
Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy; daughters Allison and Jessica; grandchildren Olivia, Arabella and Sabrina; father, Glenn; and brothers Harold, Thomas, and their families.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, June 28, at the Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia. A viewing will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, followed by the service.
